Top South Padre Island Hotels for Families You’ll Love
One of our fun and affordable family vacations was to South Padre Island. This island is located in Texas and full of beach, nature, and fun. While we didn’t stay at every one of these hotels, I’ve included where we stayed as well as some of the other best South Padre Island hotels for families that I would love to stay at when we go back! I’ve researched the kind of place I would love, and hope you’ll love them too!

Is South Padre Island Affordable?
Luckily, the majority of hotels in South Padre Island won’t break the bank. It’s easy to find hotels under $100 per night on the off season.
During summertime, the rates do rise a bit. It’s all relative, though. Compared to other popular destinations in the summer, I’d say South Padre Island is still an affordable place to vacation!

First and foremost, I’ll mention where we stayed. It was awesome, and it’s highly rated, meaning many people agree with how great it was:

1. Hilton Garden Inn
The Hilton in South Padre is really beautiful. Not only is the hotel nice, but the views and location are top notch. The hotel has a pool, hot tubs, fitness center, and food and restaurants on site.
At the Hilton, you’ll enjoy a pool and a beachfront welcome every morning. Plus, the location puts you just a short distance from some great attractions in South Padre and near lots of restaurants.

2. Courtyard by Marriott
The highly rated Marriott comes in as one of the top places to stay in South Padre. It may look a little industrial on the front, but this hotel is beachfront and beautiful inside.
But my favorite thing about it is the gorgeous pool area. The pool is plenty large and well designed, and there’s even a little kids splash area.
Inside is updated and modern. You’ll get the option of sleeping up to 6 in one room (sofa bed) which is always a great way to travel on a budget for big families.
Staying a while? Make use of the onsite laundry facility so you can pack lighter!

3. Comfort Inn top rated hotels in South Padre Island
Comfort Inn actually comes in at the top as highly rated hotels in South Padre. Which is surprising, because it isn’t even beachfront!
Though it’s not on the beach, it is just a short couple minutes’ walk to the beach. Plus there is an outdoor heated pool.
Breakfast is included for your whole family. And you can fit a family of up to 6 in some of the rooms.
Past guests have loved the new renovations, comfy beds and (I’m guessing) the budget-friendly rates.

Best Affordable Hotels in South Padre
Looking for a budget-friendly hotel in South Padre? Here are a few that still scored well, but didn’t break the bank!
The first, best affordable hotel in South Padre would actually be Comfort Inn, listed above. It checks the boxes for budget-friendly and high reviews.

4. La Copa Inn – affordable hotel in South Padre
This Beachfront hotel has everything, but at a decent price. It recently went through renovations to make it even more desirable.
Fit your family of up to 6 people inside a room. Then enjoy the pool and children’s pool, gift shop, coffee, and easy beach access.
Guests main complaints were the construction during renovation, though even those reviews really enjoyed their stay.

5. La Quinta
You’ll want to grab some fun beach toys for the affordable beachfront hotel in South Padre! But if you left the toys at home, you can purchase some on site.
After a day on the beach, head to the restaurant, bar (with billiards), or little library area. Of course the outdoor pool is always an option, too.
La Quinta gives you a free breakfast and free parking. Plus, a family of 7 can stay in the deluxe-multiple-beds room. (Just make sure to make a shower schedule for the bathroom!)
Bad reviews mainly talked about not liking the layout of the room or construction, whereas other reviews loved the rooms.

6. Best Western
Featuring a fitness center, snacks for purchase, clean comfy rooms, and an outdoor pool and spa, the Best Western comes in as one of the best affordable hotels in South Padre Island.
This newly renovated hotel comes with free hot breakfast and free wi-fi. The rooms can only fit up to 4, but they have a fridge and microwave.
This Best Western is only 1 block from the beach and close to other attractions.

7. El Delfin Lodge
While it may only be a 2.5-star-hotel, El Delfin has high ratings!
The whole family will love the outdoor pool and modern design inside this hotel. El Delfin is not a beachfront hotel, however, you can ride the free shuttle to the beach! No need to deal with parking 🙂
Rooms can sleep up to 4 people.
Guests love how clean and comfy the rooms are, as well as the great staff.

8. Isla Grand Beach Resort
The Isla Grand is an awesome resort in South Padre. Outside you’ll find tennis courts, shuffleboard, huge and beautiful pools, and a walkway right to the sand and volleyball.
Inside you’ll find a fitness center, gift shop full of fun beach toys, restaurant, and rooms that can sleep up to 4.
